Malls are trying to remain strong with the increase of online shopping and loss of casual foot traffic. They are using restaurants as a way to bring customers to the mall. Yorktown did a huge remodel bringing in lots of new restaurants. Some of my favorites have been there for some time such as Rock Bottom Brewery and Claim Jumper. The newer ones are located in the Shops of Yorktown. They are led by Flattop Grill and Brio.
Now Woodfield Mall is working on expanding its dining selections. They already have established sit down restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs and Texas de Brazil but didn’t have the traditional quick meal food court. Woodfield has announced a new dining pavilion opening near Sears this summer. The choices will be varied from the new fast casual pizza offering Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza to the more standard Chipotle Mexican Grill. Other options slated to be part of the food court are Charleys Philly Steaks, Maoz Falafel and Grill, Suki Hana and Wok A Holic. It will be interesting to see if this brings more customers to the mall.
Does having a restaurant at the mall make you want to go more or less? Does the restaurant pull you to the mall or do you go to the mall and stop to eat while you are there?
